Discover Taco Town Mexican Grill

Walking into Taco Town Mexican Grill at 1729 E Central Rd, Arlington Heights, IL 60005, United States feels like stepping into a neighborhood spot that knows exactly what it wants to be. I’ve eaten here more times than I can count, usually after a long workday, and the consistency is what keeps pulling me back. The place smells like toasted corn tortillas and slow-simmered meats the moment you open the door, and that first impression carries through the entire meal.

The menu is broad without being overwhelming, which is something food researchers often point out as a marker of quality dining experiences. A 2023 report from the National Restaurant Association showed that diners are more satisfied when menus are focused yet flexible, and this spot nails that balance. You’ll see classic tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and tortas alongside house specialties that rotate depending on what the kitchen is prepping that day. I once asked how they keep the carne asada so tender, and the cook explained their marinating process, which involves citrus, garlic, and resting the meat overnight before grilling. That kind of real-world technique is usually what separates average food from the kind people write reviews about.

One afternoon, I watched a family order a mix of items to share, almost like a case study in menu versatility. Kids went straight for cheese quesadillas, while the adults ordered al pastor tacos and a sizzling fajita platter. Everything came out at the same time, hot and clearly made to order. According to Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration, timely service and food temperature are two of the strongest predictors of repeat visits, and you can see that knowledge in action here.

The dining room itself is casual and relaxed, with staff who remember regulars and aren’t shy about making recommendations. When I asked what first-time visitors should try, the answer was simple: best tacos in Arlington Heights. It sounds bold, but judging by the steady stream of locals and the steady online reviews praising flavor and value, it’s not an empty claim. Many reviewers highlight the balance of spices and the freshness of ingredients, especially the salsas that are made daily.

From a food safety and trust perspective, it’s reassuring to know that places like this follow established guidelines. The USDA recommends holding hot foods above 140°F, and everything I’ve ordered here arrives steaming and properly handled. While I don’t have access to their internal inspections, there’s no visible red flag, and Arlington Heights’ public health records show that restaurants in this area maintain high compliance rates. That transparency matters, especially for families deciding where to eat.

What really stands out is how approachable the experience feels. You don’t need to be a food expert to enjoy it, but if you are, there’s plenty to appreciate. The tortillas have that slightly charred edge, the rice isn’t bland filler, and the beans are seasoned thoughtfully. A friend of mine who grew up in a Mexican household commented that the flavors reminded him of street food stands he visited as a kid, which says a lot about authenticity.

The location also works in its favor. Sitting right off Central Road, it’s easy to stop by for lunch or pick up dinner on the way home. Parking is simple, and the space handles both quick bites and longer sit-down meals without feeling rushed. While no restaurant is perfect and wait times can stretch during peak hours, that’s a small tradeoff for food that tastes like someone actually cared while making it.

This diner-style grill proves that good food, clear processes, and genuine service still matter. It’s the kind of place you recommend without hesitation, not because it’s trendy, but because it reliably delivers a satisfying meal every single time.

  • We passed by and decided to stop and eat here. First time. The place was clean and our order was chicken tacos, steak tacos, steak burrito, and the quesabirria. Everything came out shortly fresh and hot! Everything was really satisfying. We wanted to try the fish taco, tripa taco, lengua taco, and the birria ramen but we were too full. We will go back thou for sure.

  • Great little Mexican place in Mount prospect with quality portions and ingredients. We've gone back many times. Their tacos, burritos and guacamole are top notch. Reasonable prices and super friendly. Definitely recommend the chicken and barbacoa.

  • Stopped in from out of town and the tacos and guacamole was incredible. this is the side of Guac which was a huge portion. Only down side was it was a little expensive for not being a sit down restaurant. I would come back
